"I was late to the train station, rushing through Cairo's chaotic streets with two Italian friends when my seat dropped beneath me as if we'd gone off a small ledge - a split-second later the horrible screech of metal against concrete. The driver swerved to the right as we slowly grinded to a stop. Without seeing it ourselves, we all knew that a wheel must have simply fallen off. "I was on a Boy Scout trip with my troop in the Drakensburg Mountains of South Africa. It was incredible. We hiked out into the middle of nowhere, discovered these "secret" natural pools with rock slides and all, silently witnessed a drug caravan passing nearby in the early morning mist, and even slept through a leopard visit to our camp (discovered the footprints the next day). Our scout leader made us all try mopane worms. He took them right out of the ground. He ate one. Then each of us did the same. It was terrible. It now ranks up there with the witchety-grub (Australia) and pig's-foot-in-gelatin (Poland) as the worst meal I've ever consumed." Leave a comment...
