Antarktos Rising, by Jeremy Robinson
For those seeking real adventure travel, let us offer a less expensive alternative: read Robinson's book. Antarktos tells the tale of a world that has shifted--literally--causing places like the United States and Europe to freeze over while formerly barren wastelands, including Antarctica, have been transformed into lush paradises. And the race is on to see who will claim them.
While the quality of writing is, at times, somewhat wanting, the book's fast pace combined with its sweeping backdrop--set against a "new" continent in a "new" and devastated world--suck the reader in to the very last page. Seriously, who wouldn't have fun reading about rival teams competing for ultimate dominance of a new continent, willing to take each other out in the process, all while battling flesh-hungry creatures that have laid dormant for the last five thousand years?
Fun book. Kudos to the newcomer.
